Uybo Qüeo Kez (/ˈujbo/ /q˔o/ [compact] [market; mall]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Cævdǐsigæ Zone, Moko̠ë Empire, within the Warrenese Shogunate.

The name Uybo Qüeo Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Uybo Qüeo Kez was founded by Caw̄ Mé̄kī 'Boo Brandi' Bë̌s Hawmp̪f̄̄ Ha̋chīnḱ Dordud, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Uybo Qüeo Kez has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 24°C (75°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 5°C (41°F). Uybo Qüeo Kez receives an average of 155 cm/y (61 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Uybo Qüeo Kez covers an area of nearly 7 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 4740 m (15551 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Uybo Qüeo Kez was founded durring the late 15th century in winter of the year 1390, by Caw̄ Mé̄kī 'Boo Brandi' Bë̌s Hawmp̪f̄̄ Ha̋chīnḱ Dordud. The establishment of Uybo Qüeo Kez suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Uybo Qüeo Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Uybo Qüeo Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Uybo Qüeo Kez is buildings have been located at convienant points along the hill Uybo Qüeo Kez was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the spacious packed earth streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town sits comfortably behind a palisade wall complete with a timber gatehouse and battlments. The timber-based walls has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

A look around Uybo Qüeo Kez is like a look into a broken heart. There is no planning, no organization. Everyone here clearly goes about their own thing with little thought to anyone around them who isn’t selling something they need. It’s not malicious. Heads are hung. Eyes are empty. Something truly horrible happened here once upon a time and the town never healed.

Civic Infrastructure

Uybo Qüeo Kez has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Uybo Qüeo Kez. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Uybo Qüeo Kez's parks.

Uybo Qüeo Kez possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Uybo Qüeo Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Uybo Qüeo Kez's natural decorations nor waterways.

Uybo Qüeo Kez has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Uybo Qüeo Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Uybo Qüeo Kez has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

While Uybo Qüeo Kez might ostensibly be ruled by some other power, real control lies with the senior members of the local craft and labor guilds. Their decisions have the practical weight of law, and much of their time and effort is spent squeezing out competitors and parceling out economic opportunities in the community. Some guilds might have little or nothing to do with their original trade, and now exist purely as shells for political influence.

Uybo Qüeo Kez's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.
